About Central Water Commission –

Central Water Commission is a premier Technical Organization of India operating in the field of Water Resources. It is presently running as an attached office of the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India. The Commission is entrusted with the general responsibilities of initiating, coordinating and furthering in consultation

The Commission is committed towards general responsibilities of Initiating, Co-ordinating and further Consulting the concerned State Governments, schemes for control, conservation & utilisation of the water resources throughout the country. The main purpose is Flood Control, Navigation, Drinking Water Supply Irrigation,  and Water Power Development. It also engages in the Investigation, Construction & Execution of any such schemes as and when required.

The Central Water Commission (CWC) is headed by a Chairman with the status of Ex – Officio Secretary to the Government of India. The obligations of the Commission are divided among 3 wings namely –

  • Designs and Research (D&R) Wing,
  • River Management (RM) Wing
  • Water Planning and Projects (WP&P) Wing.

Each wing is placed below the charge of a full – time member with the status of an Ex – Officio Additional Secretary to the Government of India. It comprises of a number of organisations responsible for the disposal of the tasks and duties falling within their assigned scope of purposes.

A separate Human Resources Management Unit is headed by a Chief Engineer which deals with –

  • Human Resources Management / Development,
  • Financial Management,
  • Training,
  • and Administrative matters of the CWC.

National Water Academy is located at Pune and is responsible for training the Central and State in-  service engineers. It functions directly under the guidance of the Chairman. Altogether, there are Nineteen Organisations located at the headquarters in New Delhi. And thirteen organisations are spread over various other locations in India.

Central Water Commission Recruitment 2016 – 

The Government of India, Ministry of Water Resources River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Hydrological Observation Circle, Central Water Commission (CWC), Noida invites application from the interested and eligible Indian Nationals for the post of Skilled Work Assistant (SWA) for filling up 111 Vacancies. The last date of receipt of the application form is within 30 days from the Date of Publication of the official notification in the Employment News Paper, 27th August – 2nd September 2016 Issue.

  • Post Name: Skilled Work Assistant (SWA)
  • No. of Vacancies: 111 Posts
  • Pay Scale: Rs. 5,200 – Rs. 20,200/-
  • Grade Pay: Rs. 1,800/-

Eligibility Criteria for CWC Recruitment –

  • Educational Qualification –

Matriculation or ITI or equivalent from a recognised Board / University / Institution

  • Nationality –

Indian

  • Age Limit –

18 years minimum to 30 years maximum

  • Age relaxation –

For SC / ST candidates: 5 years,

For the OBC candidates: 3 years

And for Ex – Servicemen / PwD candidates: As per the GOI guidelines
