About Government of Punjab –

The Government of Punjab is also known as the State Government of Punjab and is locally called as the State Government. It’s the principal administrative authority of Punjab along with 22 districts. It consists of an executive branch which is led by the Governor of Punjab along with the judiciary, and the legislative branch as well. Like other Indian states, even the head of the Punjab state is the Governor. He is appointed by the Indian President on the advice of the Central Government. The Governer’s post is largely ceremonial.

Chandigarh is the capital of Punjab state and it houses the Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly) as well as the Secretariat. Chandigarh is also a union territory of our country India and additionally serves as the capital of Haryana. The Punjab and Haryana High Court, located in Chandigarh, has a jurisdiction over the whole state.

About Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Punjab – 

The Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Punjab, is authorized to provide preventive, promotive & curative Health Services to the people of the State. This is done through a system of medical institutions such as the subsidiary health centers (dispensaries/Clinics etc), community health centres, sub – centers, primary health centers, sub – divisional and District Hospitals along with Government Medical and Dental Colleges with attached hospital.

The numerous National and State Health Programs have been launched to provide Primary Health Care including a campaign against Malaria, Blindness, Tuberculosis, Leprosy, and AIDS. All these programs have been successfully executed in the Punjab state.

Hospital Services at the secondary level play an essential and complementary role to the secondary level health care system. It forms a comprehensive district based Health Care system. This health care system cannot survive without a network of hospitals undertaking responsibilities for strengthening primary and hospital care. Both are the fundamental parts of well – integrated health care systems.

Tertiary Level Health Care System assistance is provided in the Punjab state by the specialized hospitals and these are also attached to the State Medical Colleges. Instructions besides providing aid to the Secondary Level Health Care System are expected to carry out the Research and Manpower advancement for the Health Services of the state of Punjab.
