Sources where a candidate can find Government Jobs

  • Newspaper
  • Internet
  • Employment News Papers
  • Recruitment Websites

The contestants who are really interested in getting a job in the Government sector must go through the following steps and analyze who they want to go about:

Identification of your own choices –

The candidates applying for any government job first need to identify their own self i.e. how they are as an individual and then list down the career options that they think they will best suit them.

For Ex.: If you are interested in the Banking sector then apply for the local inspect jobs. This may or may not let you down but would at least develop your interest in a regular 9 – 5 job. The point has very much cleared in the movie 3-idiots.

Focus on your skill set, experiences and strengths & weaknesses –

Draw a precise and clear image of your own self and analyze that picture. To a significant level just portray what you are and to some extent also portray what you are not.  Don’t try to learn something new and focus on what you know at the present moment.

What are your present professional/education experiences, what are your strengths and weaknesses, and work on those! Accordingly find suitable career options for yourself in the government jobs.

Do your HomeWork –

There are many career options available in the Government Sector for the contestants that may sound exciting and people may also be eligible for the same. But one should also keep in mind that these jobs are also not that easy to be taken up as full- fledged career options. People applying for government jobs should never ignore their part of the homework.

They need to find all the required details of what they really want to do & if that interests them. It is extremely necessary to be sure of all the pros & cons of any type of work that fascinates people. The required tuition / studying must be done (through some specialised coaching classes or self-study) to qualify for the competitive exams and personal / group interviews.

Research –

Just doing an average and an indefinite research won’t be of any help to the candidate. Candidates who will be sure of applying for the government jobs should know about:

the companies they are applying for,

their exam patterns,

the marking structures,

further, should know about the interview patterns,

employment rules (contract basis or regular basis) should also be clear

and understanding the company’s vision and mission is also important

Candidates should keep in mind that they are competing with a lot of other candidates as well. They need to have the edge over all of them, both physically and mentally. They may or may not be able to improve the native intelligence but can definitely work on the expanding the skills required to get through a government job

Preparation for attaining the job –

After doing a proper research and your homework you should start preparing for the job you are targeting to get through. Start preparing for the exams that you need to qualify for getting the government job. And suppose if the exam pattern and marking styles are different from one another then you should also be prepared for the same.

There should be ample intelligence and knowledge to be sure of what comes in front of you in you kind of job. Research what it involves, what training a person may be requiring to get a government job and also ask for help and advice from people who are already doing it or may also have been through this phase successfully. Work smart and act smart.

Qualifying for the Interview –

If all goes well and a candidate even passes the written examinations, the next step is to qualify for the personal or group interviews. The selected candidates should be well prepared for the interview. Make sure that you express yourself in a clear and articulate way. Make quick rehearsals in front of a live audience so you can prepare yourself in a better way. Be honest, punctual, and well-mannered to everyone you talk to. The presence of mind and alertness are really significant.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria depends upon the nature of each of the government jobs and also varies from the departments. Make sure you check all the eligibility criteria before applying for a job. Each post has an official notification or advertisement that provides more information. Hence the candidate has to be fully eligible to apply for the post. Usually, there are certain common criteria.

  • If the posts are related to a lower grade, then the candidate must be HSC Pass.
  • If the jobs are related to a middle grade then the candidate must be a Graduate.
  • And if the posts are related to any higher grade than a candidate must be a Post-Graduate along with required experience.
  • Experience also is a big thing and positively counts and is considered by the various government departments.

But still keep in mind to refer to the official notifications that the recruitments post.

There are a numerous number of departments under the Government of India which includes Banking, Railways, Medical, Human Resources, Engineering, Media, Production, Manufacturing, Energy and Power etc. There also are large numbers of vacancies in the same. And banking sector is the most chosen one and a preferred one too.

Each year several job openings get published and people are placed on those posts. Getting a government job is the biggest accomplishment and it also is a matter of being secure because government departments are settled and stagnant department which can be improved, advanced or developed but not terminated.

Selection Procedures

Selection procedures also vary from department to department and job to job. And the selection procedures of the government jobs are not that easy to crack. There is a tough competition maintained as everyone is diligently looking for the government jobs. The priority for getting a government job is to live a secure life. Mere clearing the written examination is not enough. One has to clear interviews and then the final selection happens. The performance of the candidate in the written exams plus the interview becomes the basis for selection for the particular job / position.

Whenever an official recruitment notification is released, candidates are required to apply for the chosen posts either by Online or Offline mode. And after applying the selection procedure begins. This includes –
